CAMPING near Oakley, Utah September 2009

I can finally say that I actually went camping at least ONCE this year. I wish I went more but I need more friends who know how to camp to help me out. Kit and Jessie told me they wanted to do a girls night camping so I decided what the heck, right? I'll go! It was super fun (including the guy who crashed our girls night... he turned out to be pretty cool). We drove like 2 hours packed into kit's car: Kit, Jessie, Matt, Sadie on Jessie and my laps(the dog) my guitar on Matt's lap kinda, a tent, sleeping bags, fire wood, and any number of other things we'd absolutely need for a night in the wilderness.

We found an awesome camp site, paid our dues, and got a cookin! (i didn't have to cook because I brought fried rice that I'd bought earlier that day hahaha!) Jessie is apparently a gourmet cook when it comes to camp cooking and Kit had all the logistics covered at the campsite. I did the fire and Matt helped set up/ protect us from wild animals that wanted to eat us. We sang camp songs (i brought my computer that had lots of tabs on it haha yes i know i'm a true city kid bringing a mac camping) and we stayed up late talking about any number of things.... late enough to be witness to a bobcat fight (or something but it was TERRIFYING and loud!!). After that, we all smashed into the tent and fell asleep in the freezing cold. Good thing Sadie decided to sleep on top of me... mm warm dog. In the morning we checked out the area for a bit than drove back. WE ARE SO DOING THIS ALL OF THE TIME AND FOR MULTIPLE NIGHTS IN THE FUTURE... just an fyi, girls...and boy.
PIX!!!

Not sure if you can tell but, on the ride back, the leaves in the mountains were already changing red and gold! Beautiful!

Until next time!!!!

I'm a writer so don't fight it!

So incase you might not have known, I'm writing a book! I'm about 1/4 of the way though (i'm estimating it to be about 200-250 pages long). I can't give you the actual page count finished because I'm writing it on a huge blank paper sketch book note pad (like 17 inches) and by hand. For every page I write out by hand on the pad it comes out to be a page and a half or even more typed so I'm at about 50 pages in my huge notepad and done with the first section of the book anyway. It seems about on track to me.

This is the first of two pens that have run out of ink due to my writing. lol

Ok so I'm done with the first section...and I have been for over a month. I just couldn't bring myself around to start part 2 but.... today I started it and let me just say for the record that I'm terrified. Starting this new section (which is actually the begining of the book so today I wrote page 1 and then freaked out and logged onto the internet to type this) is so difficult. The writing isn't actually difficult- it's the fear of failure and success and everything all at once! Before, I was just writing out the main character's flashbacks which I set out to have cover at least 1/4 of the book to help the main story along. These flashbacks that I've completed writing will be interwoven through the rest of the book but now I'm actually starting the book itself. FREAKY. I'm trying to force myself past this hump by writing every day at a scheduled time in the AM and not leaving my desk until that time is up. I can push through this!

In my giant notebook I have this quote written on the first page to help me through the scary stuff like this.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It's our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeus, talented, fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
-Marianne Williamson "Reflections on the Principles of a Course of Miracles"

WOO! Ok, so once I get comfortable writing again and I get past this initial fear of "oh my gosh this is the book!"(haha)...I'll start cruising like I did with the other 60-70 pages (i wrote those in just about a month and i took it slow!) My goal is to have this novel done in about 3 more months- one section a month. It's a much slower pace than I originally started out for but I feel it's doable. I want it done, typed, and revised, before winter is over FOR SURE.

Oh my gosh this is terrifying. haha
