Two Creek Canyon Hike

This is a shot of a trail in Two Creek Canyon. You can catch up with the trail about a mile and half from my apartment downtown. Kim and I rode our bikes to the trailhead and took off on a lovely Sunday hike. How amazing is it to have that just down the street and a way cool chica to explore it with!

It was like 70 degrees out. Yay warm days in late autumn!

CAMPING near Oakley, Utah September 2009

I can finally say that I actually went camping at least ONCE this year. I wish I went more but I need more friends who know how to camp to help me out. Kit and Jessie told me they wanted to do a girls night camping so I decided what the heck, right? I'll go! It was super fun (including the guy who crashed our girls night... he turned out to be pretty cool). We drove like 2 hours packed into kit's car: Kit, Jessie, Matt, Sadie on Jessie and my laps(the dog) my guitar on Matt's lap kinda, a tent, sleeping bags, fire wood, and any number of other things we'd absolutely need for a night in the wilderness.

We found an awesome camp site, paid our dues, and got a cookin! (i didn't have to cook because I brought fried rice that I'd bought earlier that day hahaha!) Jessie is apparently a gourmet cook when it comes to camp cooking and Kit had all the logistics covered at the campsite. I did the fire and Matt helped set up/ protect us from wild animals that wanted to eat us. We sang camp songs (i brought my computer that had lots of tabs on it haha yes i know i'm a true city kid bringing a mac camping) and we stayed up late talking about any number of things.... late enough to be witness to a bobcat fight (or something but it was TERRIFYING and loud!!). After that, we all smashed into the tent and fell asleep in the freezing cold. Good thing Sadie decided to sleep on top of me... mm warm dog. In the morning we checked out the area for a bit than drove back. WE ARE SO DOING THIS ALL OF THE TIME AND FOR MULTIPLE NIGHTS IN THE FUTURE... just an fyi, girls...and boy.
PIX!!!

Not sure if you can tell but, on the ride back, the leaves in the mountains were already changing red and gold! Beautiful!

Until next time!!!!

C+T=<3 (Dinosaur, Colorado & Zion National Park, Utah)

So Tyler and I have been officially together for over a year now. At our 6 month and 1 year anniversaries we took a road trip.

The C+T 6 month anniversary trip (last October 2007) had 3 goals:
1. Go to Dinosaur, Colorado
2. Scope out some beautiful autumn leaves in the mountain canyons on the way
and 3. Stay in Grand Junction at some fun hotel overnight and drive home.

So, because we didn't bring a map and didn't really care to much to plan, our trip ended up being a "drive-until-you-are-totally-lost-exhausted-and-out-of-gas-and-then-sleep-in-the-back-of-the-station-wagon-in-Vail-because-you-thought-you-were-in-Grand-Junction" trip. At least we made it to Dinosaur, CO and met ONE of our goals.

I think we saw about 5 minutes of cool leaves. Don't get me wrong the trip was really fun. Sometimes it's fun to just go.

The C+T 1 year anniversary trip had 2 goals:
1. go camping at Zion National Park in Southern Utah
and 2. Try to keep Chelsea's blood sugar stable so she can enjoy herself

WE ACCOMPLISHED BOTH GOALS! Here are some photos from the trip. We stayed in Zion for 3 days and slept for 2 nights all "camping-at-the-park-tent-luxury-style". We did learn, however, to plan a little better next time we go camping. It was super fun though and I love my boyfriend so much for being cool and liking to do things like this. woo!

YAY! I'm so lucky to have him....

Timpanogos Cave, American Fork, Utah

When my brother Mike came into town to visit, Tyler and I took him on a little trip to the Timpenogas Cave only a valley away from where I live in Salt Lake City. We actually went twice...

Photobucket

The first time we went we rushed up the mountain to the opening of the cave only to find out at the top that we had to buy tickets at the bottom in order to go into the cave. It really didn't matter either way, though, because apparently we didn't get there in time to buy tickets anyway. A half mile sprint straight up a mountain and all for nothing... so sad. Tyler even tried a little bribery on the ranger but it was met with "are you trying to bribe a federal employee?" To which Tyler was like "nooo nooo whatever are you talking about?". In our angst we decided to take our time hiking down the hill and take a bunch of funny pictures/tell really stupid jokes about Bigfoot:
"What does a Sasquach name his babby boy?" "Freddie the Yettie!" HAhahaha
"What is a Yetti's favorite food?" "Spaghetti!"
"Who was Bigfoot's favorite president?" "John F. Ken-yettie!"

SOOOO the next day we actually called ahead of time to make sure we could still get tickets and make the last tour. We took our time getting up the hill and joined up with a few other people to take a tour of this fameous cave. What an interesting experience. Who would have thought that the cave was as long as it was, as cold as it was, and as beautiful as it was!

Mike was the perfect one to share this experience with! Good thing none of us are claustrophobic! I can't even believe that this is only about 40 mins from where I live. Utah is so diverse!
