A Mercy was a quick read and an interesting story. It was a little hard to follow each character's perspectives but I can appreciate what she was doing. Don't pick this one up if you are looking for a nice "by the beach" book. It's a realistic picture of the sad part of American history that was a gateway to pain and suffering for so many families slave and free alike.
